First Mobi Snake Guide to Snakes of South Africa
It is my great pleasure to introduce the Worlds first mobi guide to Snakes of South Africa. This educational guide will soon be available freely on the Nokia Ovi store. The guide has been tested and works on all Nokia Symbian S60 5th edition handsets . (Including Nokia N97, N97 mini, 5800, 5530 and X6 handsets.)

Due to time limitations the app/Mbook only includes a handful of the many snakes found throughout South Africa. I started with the most dangerous and common snakes and once I have more time and have sourced more development funding I will update the app to include all the snakes found in our country, I will also add support for more handsets and future plans include the addition of multi language support.
The guide has been entered into the Nokia Calling All Innovators Developer Challenge and I look forward to reading what everyone think of this unique South African App.
If like me you love playing with new things, drop me a line via Twitter or email ( homecrafters AT Gmail DOT com) and I will happily send you the app.

Very nice app - could definitely come in handy for camping trips and weekends away.
Just needs more snakes listed, and maybe emergency info (like what’s the best thing to do if you are bitten by a particular snake).
Looking forward to seeing it in the Ovi Store!

Hey Haydn,
Thanx for the comment.
1. I am working hard to bring more snakes to the list, it is however very costly as I would need to travel quite avit to different snake parks to source images and so atm isn’t possible. If I win the CAI competition, I will use the prize money to deliver a fully listed app by Jan/Feb010.
2. The EMS number that appears on screen links to a snake bite helpline, they can provide the best advice in an emergency what to do if you are bitten by a snake. I will however take your advice and look at setting up a page with a few emergency tips.
Will drop you a line once it is live in Ovi.
Thanx again for the feedback. S

A good and handy app and Congrats for winning. But some of us from outside SA feel so used and cheated, some of the winning apps look so inferior vs our submissions
